Day Seven: Last Day with AIM

Woke up thinking in almost a panic: it’s our last day with AIM and Kids’ Club and Brick family ministry!. It feels like we just arrived in Cambodia and just started working with the kids. Exhausted, enjoying it all, we now have to shut it down as quickly as we had to start it up on Monday.

The usual 180 kids or so came to the morning session, and the 100 or so came to the afternoon session. The children enthusiastically participated in the high energy music, skits of the Bible story, games, and the weaving craft that would finish off the week. The thought of this nearing the end of our ministry experience made me sad.

We debriefed instead of playing soccer with the disciples this last day. One thing we experienced and testified among ourselves from our two countries was the equality and unity and power of the love of Jesus in doing ministry together. One week-but what a life-changing week of inspiration, perspiration, and celebration of Christ’s love for all people shared in, through and among us. We gave out rice, and felt Christ’s love poured into us! We saw Cambodian gifts in action, and fell in love with Christ all the more.

We all agreed in the room that God had moved and changed hearts. God is changing hearts in Cambodia. God is changing our hearts also.

When all the sharing about what God had done in the week and what we learned from one another was done, we didn’t want to say goodbye. “See you again,” was what faith said. We Fall Down was a song we taught the children at Kids Klub. Every day it felt like we literally “laid our crowns at the feet of Jesus” together with these Cambodian friends!

We don’t know all God is calling us to. But we have a whole new group of people who love Jesus like we do! We got a taste of the big picture of what God is doing in Cambodia. So grateful, humbled, inspired!
